John Richard (Dickie) Pierce, 71, of Timmonsville went peacefully to his heavenly home on September 30, 2024 surrounded by his loving family.

A graveside memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, October 6 at Sparrow Swamp Baptist Church Cemetery in Timmonsville.  At other times the family will receive friends at the home of Katie and Ryan Morrell, 2051 Center Rd., Timmonsville.

Born in Florence County, he was the son of the late John Pierce & Effie Pierce.

He graduated from Timmonsville High School and spent many years working for Union Carbide and ESAB, where he later retired.

He lived his life on the family farm in Timmonsville. He loved cheering on his Carolina Gamecocks, playing his guitar, listening to Merle Haggard, gardening, fishing, and taking care his cats.

His legacy and life lessons will continue on through his family.

Dickie is survived by his brother, David Pierce of Timmonsville, brother in law, Jack wise of Sumter and other family whom he dearly loved and who dearly loved him: Ricky (Gay) Pierce of Timmonsville, Tracey (Wes) Helms of Florence, Katie (Ryan) Morrell of Timmonsville, McKenzie Pierce of Timmonsville, Lauren Wise of Columbia, Gary Pierce of Florence, and Banks and Brynlee Kate Morrell of Timmonsville.

He is predeceased by his parents; his sister, Letider "Tida" Wise; a brother, Don Pierce; and a nephew, Donnie Pierce.
