Timmonsville - Dennis Fulton Hill, 68, died in a local hospital on Wednesday, June 1, 2016 after an illness.

A memorial service will be Monday, June 6, 2016 at 4:00 p.m. at Cartersville Baptist Church. Visitation with the family will follow the service.

Mr. Hill was born in Florence County, the son of the late Jesse Gaston, Sr. and Mary Lilla Horne Hill. Dennis attended Newberry College and the College of Charleston. He was a member of Cartersville Baptist Church.

Dennis was a farmer, Parts House owner and residual contractor. He was a pilot, hunter, fisherman, Golfer, and marksman, holding for a while the world record for Bench Rest Shooting.

Married to Cindy Matthews for over 30 years, they were active in the community, Scouts, school activities and the rural fire dept. Dennis was elected to the Timmonsville School Board and Florence Airport Commission and served as Santa Claus in the Christmas Parade. He and his boys enjoyed outdoor activities and especially Clemson Baseball.

Survivors are a son, Dennis F. "D.J." Hill, Jr; a brothers, Jesse (Harriet) Hill; sister, Patsy (Sammie) Yarborough. He is preceded in death by a son, Gaston Hill, daughter, Jessica Hill and his sister, Mary Sue Barringer.
