Debra J Lewis, 65, widow of James R. Lewis, entered into rest on Wednesday, September 16, 2026. Born in Darlington SC, she was the daughter of the late Richard John Dority and the late Annie Lou Suggs Grooms.

She was a member of Lake Swamp Baptist Church. Debra was a truck driver for many years and her handle was "Lucky Star." She loved her family dearly and was always there to help. She had a love for dolphins and stars. Her favorite singer was Elvis Presley. She will be missed by all who loved her.

Surviving are her daughter, Jessica Lewis (John Whitt); sons, Richard Lewis (Brittany), Jamie Dority; sister, Mary Lou "Lucy" Grooms (Richard); brother, Buddy Dority (Kimberly); grandchildren, Jeffrey Boone, Jr., Richard John Lewis, Jr., Abigail Autumn Whitt.

A funeral service to honor her life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 20, 2026, in the chapel of Layton-Anderson Funeral Home with burial to follow in Lake Swamp Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
