IN LOVING MEMORY OF
David
Miles
July 20, 2022
Florence, SC- Francis David Miles, 73, passed away on Wednesday, July 20, 2022 surrounded by his loving wife and children.
A graveside service will be held Monday, July 25th at 2:00 p.m. at the Florence National Cemetery, 1009 Stockade Rd., Florence. Please plan accordingly as this is an outdoor venue without seating.
David was born and raised in Florence, SC, to the late Layton R. and Lottie Nell Miles. He served in the US Army and as a supervisor with the SC Dept. of disabilities and special needs.
It is no secret that David's most cherished accomplishment in life was his family. Surviving are his wife of 43 years, Bunny Miles; daughters, Jessica and Emily Miles; son in law, Dylan Simmons; nephew, Matt Minshew; two brothers, Ralph and Michael Miles; and amazing neighbor Carrie Stallings. He is preceded in death by two sisters; Betty Miles Sansbury and Carol Lynn Miles Turner; and one brother, Rube Miles.
David and Bunny's love story all started with a wink across the table almost 50 years ago. Through the years they have shared an unapparelled love for each other, and unbreakable bond. They enjoyed raising their two girls as well as activities like going to the beach, fishing, and antique shopping. Together they created a home full of love and laughter.
Devoted father and husband, David (also deemed "Mr. Wilson" by the neighborhood kids) most enjoyed when his home was filled with kids, friends, and family. It was common place to have neighborhood kids and friends running rampant throughout the house. Lawnmower races with kids in tow, weekend painting sessions, and master grill cheese maker are a just a few of the activities and titles David was a part of during a typical weekend.
David was also an amazingly talented man who was an avid reader, skilled woodcarver, and wonderful painter who imparted his love for reading and the arts onto his two daughters. He was quick witted, infectious to be around and a wonderful conversationalist. David will be remembered for all of these things and many more which cannot be put into words. He has truly raised the bar for all of us who were lucky enough to be a part of his life.
Rather than food, the family would prefer a plant or for you to plant a tree in David's honor. Alternatively, donations in remembrance of David and the time he spent helping those in need, can be made at the special olympics SC.
