David Levern Carter, Jr., 72, entered into rest on Tuesday, August 25, 2026. Born in Georgetown Co. SC , he was the son of the late David L Carter, Sr. and Iveleen Port Carter.

David was a loving family man that loved life and making others smile. He enjoyed going to the mountains and working on vehicles. He was in the logging business all of his life and was currently employed with J.C. Witherspoon Jr. Inc. He passed away doing what he loved.

Surviving are his brother, Randy L. Carter; sisters, Brenda Anderson (Willie), Darlene Strickland (Donald), Rhonda Frye (Ricky), Rita Reitzel (Victor); fiancé, Crystal Sturkie; stepchildren, Reggie Lynch (Christy), Kevin Lynch (Courtney), Micky Lynch (Natalie), Jajuan Lynch, Lance Lynch, Sandra Register, Savannah Register; sister-in-law, Angie Carter; 19 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Janice Lynch Carter; brothers, Donnie Wayne Carter, Johnny Lane Carter, Jimmy Dean Carter.

A graveside service to honor his life will be held at 3:00 pm on Friday, August 28th, 2026 in the Unity Christian Fellowship Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday at Layton-Anderson Funeral Home.
