Effingham, SC - Curtis Tanner, 79, passed away on Friday, Nov. 27, 2020 in a local hospital.

Funeral services will be Wed. Dec. 2, 2020 at 3:00 p.m. at Effingham Church of God.  The family will have a time of visitation before the service at the church beginning  at 2:00 p.m.

Mr. Tanner was born in Georgetown County, the son of the late Kirby Jackson and Mary E. Stone Tanner.  Before moving into the Florence area he lived many years in Beaufort. Where  he was a member of the Beaufort Church of God, and served on the Pastors Council.  He was an Assistant Water Works Director in Beaufort.  He also worked with  the Civil Service Division at the Marine Corps Air Station and Parris Island.  Curtis enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his family.

He was first married to the late Lizzie Jane Coker Tanner.

Surviving are his wife, Bobbie Chancy Tanner; sons, Jackson (Gritiya) Tanner, Gene Tanner, Curtis McClo (Conchetta) Tanner; daughter, Jane Lynette Smith; step-children, Karen, Brenda, Carol and Jimmy;  brother, Harris Tanner; six sisters, Lei Langley, Frankie Foxworth, Vi Peace, Gaby Wadford, Audrey T. Cales, Connie McMakin; grandchildren, Justin Smith, Autumn Smith, James Bazzle, Corey Tanner, Chelsea (Zachary)Verges, DanaJane MingKhwanTanner, Nicholas, Kira, Ryleigh , Zachary  Flynn-Tanner and 4 great grandchildren.  Curtis is preceded in death by a sister, Louise Thomas.
