Celso Roman Rodriuuez, 90 , of Effingham passed away on Tuesday, January 20, 2026.

Mr. Rodriguez was born in Toa Alta, Puerto Rico, the son of the late Celso Cheves and Blasina Rodriguez.

Celso was a switch operator for CSX Railroad for 45 plus years.

He is survived by his daughter, Maria Velazquez and her husband Jorge; two grandchildren, George & Raquel Velazquez; one great-granddaughter, Grace.

He is preceded in death by his loving wife Demtria Rodriguez and son Celso Rodriguez Jr.

Funeral Services will be Thursday January 22, 2026 at 4:00 p.m. in the chapel of Layton-Anderson Funeral Home. A time of visitation will start at 3:00pm.

We eagerly await the resurrection of our dear father, grandfather, and great grandfather Celso Rodriguez as we await Jehovah's promises to be fulfilled very soon in the near future.

"Your dead will live. My corpses will rise up. Awake and shout joyfully, You residents in the dust!  For your dew is as the dew of the morning, And the earth will let those powerless in death come to life" - Isaiah 26:19.

"This is the will of him who sent me, that I should lose none out of all those whom he has given me, but that I should resurrect them on the last day.  40 For this is the will of my Father, that everyone who recognizes the Son and exercises faith in him should have everlasting life, and I will resurrect him on the last day." -
