Timmonsville, SC - Catherine  Smith Duke, 97,  passed away on Sunday, July 9, surrounded by her family.

Funeral services will be Thursday, July 13, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at Lake Swamp Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will speak to those attending before the service beginning at 1:00 p.m. at the church.

Catherine was born in Williamsburg County, the daughter of the late Hebert Benjamin and Eulee Kirby Smith.   She was a member of Lake Swamp Baptist Church.  Catherine was retired from GE Mobile.

She was married to the late Thomas H. Duke, Sr.

Surviving are; a son, Thomas Harold Duke; daughter, Brenda Joyce Darnell; brother, Airail (Cheryl) Smith; sisters, Janie Lou Knight, Brooks Jackson, Nita Mae (Burnette)Yarborough and Linda Williamson; a special grandson and caregiver, Alan Sharpe; ten grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.  She is preceded in death by a son, Herbert Arnold Duke; sisters, Rounette Belue, Adele Prosser; brothers, Reynolds Smith, Danny H., Smith and  H.B. Smith.
