On the evening of August 25, 2025, Carolyn Burnett VanHouten, 86, fondly known as "Bebe" slipped from this earthly home into her heavenly home.

Funeral services will be Thursday, August 28, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel at Florence Memorial Gardens.  The family will have a time of visitation following the service.

Carolyn was born in Norfolk, Virginia, the daughter of the late A.C. and Mabel Cox Burnett.  She retired from the IRS as a Revenue Officer with the US Treasury Department. She was involved with the Guardian Ad-Litem Program, Florence Chapter of National Federation of the Blind and was a "57 Girl", graduating from McClenaghan High School. Formerly from Florence, Carolyn later moved to Lugoff where she was a substitute school teacher for Lugoff Elementary School. Additionally, Carolyn was an active member of Bethel Worship Center in Camden.

Surviving are her three sons, Clarence Marcus (Christina) VanHouten, Jr., C. Matthew (Martha) VanHouten, Jonathan (Rhea) VanHouten; sister, Gayle B. Casiano; and her loving granddaughters, Morgan (Justin) Yarbrough, Meredith VanHouten, Olivia VanHouten, Abigail VanHouten and great-grandson, Everett Yarbrough.  She is preceded in death by a brother, Wayne M. Burnett.

The family would like to extend a warm thank you to the staff at Pinedale Residential Center for all the love and care shown to Bebe.
