Timmonsville – George Carlyle Strickland, 76, died on May 21, 2016 in an assisted living residence.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel ofLayton-Anderson Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Byrd Cemetery in Timmonsville, SC. Visitation will be today (Monday) from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home.

Mr. Strickland was born in Florence County, the son of the late Willie Maxie and Eleanor Lynch Strickland. He was a tree trimming foreman with Davey Tree Service before retiring.

Surviving are the mother of his children, Barbara Skipper Strickland; two sons, George L. "Spanky" (Michelle) Strickland, Rodney Allen (Angel) Strickland; daughter, Carla (Chad) Greene; a brother, Ralph Strickland; sisters, Janie Lou (Doug) Lovelace, Valerie Lee, Mary Alice Hunt; grandchildren, Wesley (Ashley) Strickland, Allie Strickland, Andrew (Emily) Strickland, Blake Greene and two great grandchildren, Gage and Anna Strickland. He is preceded in death by brothers, Ray, Wayne, Don, Cecil, Ronnie and Lenward Strickland.

The family would like to thank the staff of Pee Dee Gardens for all the love and care shown to them during Mr. Strickland's time there.
