Brenda Truett Russ,78, of Florence went to her heavenly home on Tuesday, March 11. She was a loving wife, mom, grandma, and great-grandma. She spent her days loving and taking care of her family.

A graveside memorial service will be held at Florence Memorial Gardens on Saturday, March 15 at 3:30pm.

Born in Darlington county, she was the daughter of the late Theo Cross Newsome (John Bazen) and Leon Marvin Truett.

She is survived by her husband, J. Earl Russ of Florence; daughter, Gay (Ricky) Pierce of Timmonsville; son, Lee (Julie) McKenzie of Darlington; step-son, Tommy (Crystal) Russ of Florence; grandchildren, Katie (Ryan) Morrell of Timmonsville, McKenzie Pierce of Timmonsville, Joshua McKenzie of Darlington, Mason (Leila) Russ of Florence, and Parker Russ of Florence; great grandchildren, Banks Morrell, Brynlee Kate Morrell, and Waylon Russ; sister, Jerri Campbell of Murrells Inlet; half-sister Fran Jean Key of Mount Morris, MI; half-brother, Danny Truett of Flint, MI; and multiple nieces and nephews.

She spent her days loving her family BIG! She was known as Grandma, Bren-Bren, Grommy, and Ga-Ga and loved each of her names given to her by her grands and great grands. If you met her she was sure to show off some pictures or videos of her babies. She was always found supporting and cheering them on. Up until December, she was still keeping her great grandchildren multiple days a week and loved every second of it! She also has two very special furbabies, Cody and Chloe, whom she loved dearly!

She will be missed so much by her family, but her legacy and life lessons will continue on through each one she loved.

The family would also like to thank each employee of MUSC hospital of Florence who helped care for her during her final days here on Earth.
