Bobbie Chancy Grooms Tanner, 82, went to her Heavenly home on February 18, 2025 after a valiant battle with a long illness while being cared for by the wonderful staff at The Florence Presbyterian Community. Her firm belief in God supported her in her struggle and ultimately gave her peace.

Bobbie is survived by her four children, Brenda (Donald) Childers, Karen Aycock, Carol (Chris) Thomason, James (Jeniffer) Grooms II; fifteen grandchildren: Cayce Mooneyhan, Tamara Childers, Nathan Love, Chase and Spencer Gartzke, Jeffrey (Allison), Ethen (Sarinya "Noina") and Holden (Krystal) Holliday, Anna and Olivia Thomason, Jessica, Emily, Samantha and Jamie Grooms; and six great-grandchildren, Haven and Easton Mooneyhan, Kylan Beck, Elwyn Rae Holliday, Helena Claire Holliday, and Suthasini "Nuueas" Songsri.  She is preceded in death by her childhood sweetheart, husband of 54 years, James W. Grooms and after his death, husband of 6 years, Curtis Tanner and her son-in-law, James Aycock.

Bobbie was born to the late Jess Willard and Cathryn Chancy, a minister and a homemaker respectively, in LaBelle, FL on December 10, 1942. She was immersed in the Christian community that would be her lifelong support from an early age.  Even though her illness prevented her from attending as she would have liked, she was a faithful member of the Effingham Church of God at the time of her death.

Visitation will be at the Effingham Church of God on Friday, February 21st at 11am with funeral service to celebrate her life at 12pm directed by Layton-Anderson Funeral Home.  Her Pastor, Bishop David Wilks and son-in-law, Bishop Don Childers will officiate.  A private interment will be at the Florence National Cemetery.
