Obituary

Sunday July 3, 2016, Billy Jeffords lost his battle with cancer but won the war with the world and went home to spend eternity with the Lord.

Funeral services will be Thursday, July 7, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Bethany Free Will Baptist Church, Timmonsville, SC. Interment will follow at Pine Grove United Methodist Cemetery. The family will receive visitors Wednesday, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Layton-Anderson Funeral Home, Florence.

Not only did we lose a good son, father, grandfather, and brother we lost a great friend. Billy was the son of John C and Maude McElveen Jeffords of Florence.

He was educated in the Florence public school system but most of his education was self-taught when it came to business. At a very young age he was driven and had big goals for himself as seen by his many accomplishments. He was the successful business owner as well as a talented musician. His success meant nothing if he could not share it with his family and friends. There are so many things he did to help others often behind the scenes which he felt was his biggest success.

In his early years he was a Golden Gloves boxer winning many championships throughout North and South Carolina. He played guitar and sang for many years as a member of The Jeffords Brother's band and as a solo artist making beach music under the name Dip Ferrell. He was a great songwriter and singer, and was garnished over 20 nominations in beach music awards. If you knew Billy, you must have known he was a devout Gamecock fan through the good and the bad.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Wayne and friend Ric Dean. Billy leaves behind his son Joshua and wife Catherine, his oldest son Scott, and his daughter Stacy and husband Mitchell. His brothers, Charles and wife Darlene, Jackie and wife Cindy, Danny and wife Mary, and Ricky along with his sisters Betty, Ronnie, and Marilyn. Grandchildren Kelsey Jeffords, McCuen Eadon, Reagan Jeffords, and Jonathan Jeffords and many nieces and nephews. Along with his great friends and confidants Weldon Benton and Lonnie Gaskins. He attended Bethany F.W.B Church and we thank them for their love and support. He leaves behind more friends than people could hope to have in 10 lifetimes. They know who they are and we thank each and every one for their love and support. Today, we simply say through Jesus Christ we will see him later.
