Florence, SC – William C. "Billy" Bateman, Sr. 88, passed away Wednesday, August 11, 2021.

Funeral services will be Sunday, August 15, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Pisgah United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  Viewing of the body and visitation will be Saturday, August 14, 2021 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the residence.

Mr. Bateman was born in Florence County, the son of the late, Louis Albert and Mildred Jeffords Bateman.   He was a member of Pisgah United Methodist Church.  Billy served in the National Guard for 42 years and retired as a Command Sgt. Major.  He retired from Wellman Industries as a Maintenance Specialist.  Billy enjoyed his time as a volunteer with Cooks for Christ and working with the youth at Camp Salkehatchie Summer Camp.

Surviving are his wife of 70 years, Dorothy Dean Bateman; son, William C Bateman, Jr; brother, Thomas Bateman; sister, Mildred Mae Lewis and his granddaughter, Amanda Bateman Hyder.  He is preceded in death by brothers, Albert Bateman and Jeff Bateman.
