Timmonsville, SC – Betty Harrelson Lewallen, 87, died at the McLeod Hospice House on Saturday, Jan. 30, 2016, after an illness.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2016, at 3:00 p.m. at Timmonsville United Methodist Church, 108 E. Byrd Street, Timmonsville, SC. Interment will follow at Byrd Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home.

Betty was born in Mullins, SC, the daughter of the late G. Rembert and Cora Bryant Harrelson. She was a graduate of Mullins High School and attended Coker College. Mrs. Lewallen was the Assistant Head Mistress of Hudgens Academy from 1971-1977. Betty served as one of the original board members for the Timmonsville Library. She was the owner of Lewallen's Furniture Store for twenty-eight years. Other activities that she enjoyed were reading, crossword puzzles, playing bridge, and attending various garden clubs. She was also an avid sports fan.

She was married to the late Worth M. Lewallen, Jr. Surviving are two sons, Worth M. "Jim" Lewallen, III and his wife Beth, Mark P. Lewallen and his wife Monica all of Florence; a daughter, Jean Lewallen Miles and her husband John, Monroe, NC; grandchildren Shea (Autumn) Johns, Grace Elizabeth Lewallen, Worth Lewallen, IV, Pearson Lewallen, Gordon Lewallen, and three great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by a son, David K. Lewallen, two brothers, G. Rembert Harrelson, Jr., Jack Harrelson, and a sister, Dorothy Shepard.
