Florence, SC – Barbara McKay Smith 85, passed away on Dec. 10, 2018 after a brief Illness.

Funeral services will be Friday, Dec. 14, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Layton-Anderson Funeral Home.  Burial will follow at Florence Memorial Gardens.  The family will have a time of visitation Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Barbara was born in Florence County, the daughter of the late Thaddeus and Mary Pierce McKay.  She was a member of Tans Bay Baptist Church.  Barbara was a secretary in the Florence District One School System until retiring.  She served at Poynor, Wallace Gregg, Greenwood Elementary and South Side Junior High School.  She enjoyed her church family and her ministry of taking friends to church , and visiting with shut-ins and those that were sick.

She was married to the late Hoyt L. Smith.

Surviving are two daughters, Sharon S. (Alex) Coleman, Amanda S. (Randy) Anderson; two sisters, Adrienne Johnson and Mac Drose; her loving grandchildren, Anthony Sarrio, Matthew Sarrio, Taylor Cleveland, Caleb Anderson, Abigale Anderson; eight great-grandchildren and a special niece, Eris Smith.
