Timmonsville- Barbara Lynch Matthews, 73, died in a local hospital on Friday, July 8, 2016. Funeral services will be Sunday, July 10, 2016 at 4:00 p.m. in the chapel at Layton-Anderson Funeral Home. The family will speak to those attending prior to the service beginning at 2:30 p.m. at the Funeral Home.

Mrs. Matthews was born in Florence County, the daughter of the late Walter Clyde and Lillie Dorriety Lynch. She was an inspector for Sara Lee Hosiery before retiring. Barbara was a member of Elim Baptist Church.

She was married to the late John David Matthews.

Surviving are her children, John Craig (Dawn) Matthews, Darlington, Walter Stacy (Andrea) Matthews, Chasti M. (Michael) Wright, Timmonsville; brother, Richard (Linda) Lynch, Timmonsville; sisters, Patsy Oliver, Alice (Alford) Gaymon, Gail (Woodrow) Lee all of Timmonsville, Evelyn (Pee Wee) Lowery, Hartsville, Kaffie (Marty) Evaldi, Florence; five grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by a sister, Mary Grainger.

Layton-Anderson Funeral Home, 4210 W. Palmetto Street, Florence is assisting the Family with arrangements.
