Bernie Eugene Oliver, 72 of Effingham, passed away on Thursday afternoon, Jan. 25, 2024 after a courageous struggle.

Funeral services will Monday January 29, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Layton-Anderson Funeral Home.  A private burial will be at Terrell's Cemetery in Lake City, SC.

Mr. Oliver was born in Florence County, the son of the late Beler Eugene and Jessie Johnson Oliver.  He worked for the Wellman Company in Darlington until its closing. He then was a Security Guard for a Management Company.

Surviving are a brother, David (Janice) Oliver; three sisters, Joyce Broach, Ann Oliver, Helen Barfield and many nieces and nephews.
