Effingham, SC – Ava Kathryn Tanner Grooms, 68, passed away on Sunday April 25, 2021.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, April 28, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Lake Swamp Baptist Church, 6558 Oates Hwy., Timmonsville, SC 29161. The family will have a time of visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. before the service. Social distancing will be observed. You are asked to please wear a mask.

Ava was born in the Indiantown Community of Williamsburg County, the daughter of the late Raymond and Wilma Stone Tanner. She was a graduate of Hemingway High School and Florence-Darlington Technical College. Before her retirement she was an employee of Vulcraft.  Ava was a member of Lake Swamp Baptist Church. Over the years she enjoyed bowling, yoga, fishing, and crabbing at the beach.

Surviving are her husband of many years, A."Sonny" Grooms; daughters, Laura Williams, Keri (Dave) Murray; son, Jimmy Grooms, three brothers, John E. (Elaine) Tanner, William (Sandra) Tanner, Carroll (Susie) Tanner and her two grandchildren, Madison Williams and Wesley Dease.  She is preceded in death by a sister, Elaine Tanner Overcash.
