Anthony K. "Tony" Ridgeway, 64, entered into rest on Thursday, May 28, 2026. Born in Washington, North Carolina, he was the son of the late Thomas Lafayette Ridgeway and the late Kathryn Gibson Ridgeway .

Tony was a man who dearly loved the Lord and lived his life as a devoted Christian. Music was one of his greatest passions, and he found special joy in playing the drums and guitar, especially as part of his church praise band. He appreciated life’s simple blessings — walking along the beach, strolling in the rain, and taking in beautiful sunsets and sunrises. He also had a special love for his 300ZX.

Tony was a talented handyman who could fix almost anything, but more importantly, he was always willing to lend a helping hand to others. Whether helping family, friends, or even strangers, he believed deeply in caring for people during difficult times. He often said, “If you can’t help someone when they are down and out — whether family, friend, or stranger — you aren’t worth a darn.”

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Donna Henderson Hartsell; son, Thomas Keith Ridgeway; beloved cats, Brenda "Thumper" Ridgeway, Tigger, Star, Callie, and Oreo.

The family will hold a celebration of life at a later date. The Directors of Layton-Anderson Funeral Home are caring for the family.
