Murrells Inlet, SC – Anna Marie Vassy, 38, passed away Wednesday Dec. 7, 2022 after an accident.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, Dec. 13, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church, Florence, SC.  Interment will follow at the Lynchburg Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Lynchburg, SC.  The family will have a time of visitation from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Monday evening at Layton-Anderson Funeral Home, Florence, SC.

Anna was born in Florence, SC, the daughter of Robert G. and Patricia Cheatham Vassy.  Anna graduated from Byrnes Academy where she was class Valedictorian and the University of South Carolina where  she was a member of the ADPi Sorority.   After living in Miami and New York, she most recently was an online teacher in Murrells Inlet.  She enjoyed her marsh view and walks on the beach.  Anna was a beautiful young woman with a warm, welcoming smile.  She always was concerned for others.  As Anna was growing up in Florence, she played her violin and treasured a special relationship with her teachers and mentors, Starr Ward and Beverly Hazelwood.

Surviving are her parents of Florence; brother, Gil; maternal grandparents, Phil and Til Martin; maternal aunts, Susan (Harry) Watkins, Jo (Rob) Sterling, paternal aunt Vicki (John) Holler, cousins, Will (Kerry) Watkins, their children, Tinsley and Jack, Mac(Julia) Watkins, Courtney (Ramsay) and their children, Ramsay and Sterling, Roddy(Ronnie) Sterling, Ryan (Kyle) Radaker and their children, Adlai, Langston and Louisa, John Holler,III, Great aunt Janell (Jan) Hottinga and special friends Andrew McCracken and Craig Hair. She is preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Wallace Cheatham and paternal grandparents, Bobby and Rosemary Vassy.
