Amelia Ann Tolson, 85, passed away and went to be with the Lord on May 4, 2026 at her residence in Lynchburg surrounded by family.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, W. A. Tolson; her parents, Henry Alexander Hickson, Jr. and Claire Rebecca Hickson.
Amelia Ann, also known as "Mee Ann" to her friends and "MaMa" to her grandchildren and great grandchildren, leaves behind a legacy of love and caring as she poured herself out for her family, others, and her church. She was a devoted member of First Baptist Church, Lynchburg and served the Lord by serving her church faithfully. She served in the WMU for many years and cooked many meals for people in need. She also served as the church clerk. She encouraged others by sending many cards with heartfelt messages to brighten their day. She was a homemaker where she tirelessly supported her husband and family in their farming operation. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and she will be greatly missed by all.
Amelia Ann is survived by her son, Watson Tolson (Marie); daughter, Anna Marie Strickland (Eddie); brothers, Richard Hickson (Mary) and Robin Hickson, grandchildren Andrew Tolson (Hannah), Kayla Keith (Shane), Chase Strickland (Lexi), and Alex Tolson (Gracie); and great-grandchildren W.A. Tolson II, Whitt Tolson, Mason McGuire, Jase Keith, Harper Strickland, Silas Strickland, Loeffler Tolson and Brewer Tolson.
A funeral service to honor her life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at First Baptist Church, Lynchburg. The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church. A private interment will be held at St. Paul Cemetery in Cartersville.
