Lamar, SC – Allen Walter Sauls, 73, passed away in the early morning of Nov. 28, 2017 with his family at his side.

Funeral services will be Thursday, Nov. 30, 2017 at high noon ,12:00 p.m. at Florence Baptist Temple. Burial with military honors will be held at the Florence National Cemetery. The family will have a time of visitation Wednesday from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Allen was born in Florence Country, the son of the late Juel Ray and Essie Richardson Sauls.He served his country well and with honor as a US Marine during the Vietnam era for which he was highly decorated. After being discharged, he worked as a butcher and found success in many fields such as painting and landscaping. He was a mediocre comedian with a unique sense of humor. He was a faithful member of the Florence Baptist Temple. Allen was a wonderful husband, loving father and grandfather, who never met a stranger.

Surviving are his wife Barbara Matthews Sauls; a son, Billy (Amy) Sauls; two daughters, Marijane (Jesse) Knight, Denise (Mark) Spurling; three sisters, Mary Ann (Billy) Eaddy, Agnes Poston, Kathleen Poston and his grandchildren, Lily, Alyssa, Ethan, Isabella and Josie,many nieces, nephews and cousins. He is preceded in death by a brother, Billy Sauls.
