Alicia González, age 89, of Effingham, SC. Passed away peacefully on October 18, 2026 surrounded by her loving family.

Born on December 02, 1936 in Cuba to Luciano Velasquez and Julia Castillo. She met the challenges of life, being committed, supportive and kind with determination. For those who loved her, she gave faith, hope and love. She was a wife, mother, sister and friend may we be reminded how blessed we are for having her having touched our lives. Alicia, may your light of love shine on and you rest in peace.

Alicia is survived by her two daughters; Cirila and Ines, sons-in-law Miguel and Raul; three sisters and two brothers Puchy, Lula, Haydee, Carlitos and Berto; grandchildren Yasairys, Robert, Roberlandys and Suriday; great-grands Kimberly, Michael, Vanessa, Matthew, Rebeca, Samantha, Sofia, Caleb, Ethan, Zachary and Ayden; Great-great grands Nicholas , Miles and Lucy; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Roberto, four siblings: Antonio, Julio, Pepe, Mina and her parents.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, October 21, 2026 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Layton-Anderson Funeral Home. Interment will be held Thursday, October 22. 2026 at 11:00 a.m. in Florence Memorial Gardens.  A memorial service will be held Saturday, October 24, 2026 at 1:30 p.m. in the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 1434 N. Williston Rd., Florence, SC 29506.
