James "Alan" Davis, 60 passed away on July 4, 2024 due to complications after open heart surgery. He was surrounded by his loving family members as he passed.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, July 9, 2024 at 12:00 at Layton-Anderson Funeral Home. Entombment will follow at Florence Memorial Gardens. The family will have a time of visitation beginning at 11:00 before the service at the Funeral Home.
Mr. Davis was born in Marlboro County, the son of the late James L Davis and Ethel Smith. A short time after graduating from high school he joined the U.S. Army which he devoted his life to defending our country. Alan married Lisa Gibbs Davis and soon was stationed to Fort Bragg, NC. After retirement, Alan became a Law Enforcement Officer in Darlington County. Before his passing he was an Armed Contract Security Guard at the U.S. Embassy in Afghanistan. He enjoyed riding and talking Harley Davidson motorcycles, something he shared with his son.
Surviving are his loving wife of 39 years Lisa Gibbs Davis; daughter, Mandy (Justin W.) Davis; son, Braden (Brooklyn) Davis; four grandchildren, Briley Watford, Layla Watford, Bishop Davis and Blaine Davis; brothers, Ricky Mumford, Donnie Mumford; mother and father-in-law, Janice and Charles Gibbs; niece, Tabetha (Vern) Brown, numerous cousins and Jason (Natalie) Leary who was his best friend for over 20 years.
