Timmonsville, SC – Robert A. “Budd” Randle passed away on May 17, 2019.
A Memorial Service will be Saturday, June 15, 2019 at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Layton-Anderson Funeral Home. The family will speak to those attending after the service.
Robert was born in Hackensack, New Jersey, the son of the late Thomas Harry, Sr. and Itha Faye Beaver Randle.
He was married to the late Jane Randle.
Surviving are a son, Robert “Bud” (Helen) Randle, Jr; a daughter, Nancy (Paul) Rogers; step-son, Richard (Susan) Loughrey. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Jackie, Thomas and Charles.
“Budd” was a Sergeant in the Army in the Korean War from 1952-1954. He received his High School Equivalency Cert. in Tokyo American High School in Narimasu, Japan while serving in the Korean War. As a result of his time in service, Robert was the recipient of the Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, and National Defense Service Medal.
While living in New Jersey, he was the owner of a construction business. When he moved to South Carolina, he was the owner of a Forestry service business. Robert’s passion was a love of horses and flying airplanes. In South Carolina he owned his own helicopter and airplane with airstrips on his property.
Before moving to South Carolina, he and his wife purchased property and built a horse farm and raised and showed horses. That same farm is now the home of Starlight Farm. They are dedicated to providing equine-assisted activities and therapies to individuals with disabilities.
Memorials may be made in Robert's (Budd’s) name to a child with special needs to this same farm at C/O The Starlight Farm, 97 Ricker, Drive, Ringwood, New Jersey 07456.
