Timmonsville, SC. – George A. McLaughlin, 75, passed away on Jan. 15, 2019.
Funeral services will be Thursday, Jan. 17, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Layton-Anderson. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. before the service at the funeral home. A committal service with honors, will be Friday, Jan. 18,2019 at 11:00 a.m. at the National Cemetery in Florence.
Mr. McLaughlin was born in Putnam, Tennessee, the son of the late George H. and Jessie Lou Arline McLaughlin. He was retired from the US Army. He worked as a helicopter mechanic and crew chief. George owned an auto salvage business for many years. He was a member of the local Studebaker Club. He was a member of Calvary Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Surviving are his wife, Irene Knotts McLaughlin; two sons, Dana (Sonya) McLaughlin, Ernest McLaughlin; two daughters, Sharon (Matt) Scurry, Nicole (James) Morris; a brother, Wayne (Lillian) McLaughlin; sister-in-law, Nita McLaughlin and fifteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by a son, Wayne “Junior” McLaughlin and a brother,
Dwan McLaughlin.
